Here at Ryan & Rose, we discuss alllll topics. This is one of the things that makes Ryan & Rose different from other businesses, Lindsey’s full transparency with all aspects of her life. If you’ve been following Lindsey on Instagram for some time, you might remember that she was born with a tumor on her spine. Along with the tumor, Lindsey has a neurogenic bladder, nerve damage, cavus & claw feet, and claw toes. Through the years, enduring 25 surgeries to date, she has everyday medical needs. Catheterizing every 4 hours is a daily routine and requires the use of medical supplies. When it came time to find a new insurance solution, Lindsey looked into Medi-Share and realized this healthcare ministry was exactly what she was looking for.
As a person with preexisting conditions, finding the best insurance was always a top priority. Out of college, Lindsey searched for a job which provided her with insurance security since her needs were vast. While she was teaching, she received insurance coverage. However, when she quit her job at White Station High School, she had to search for another option. At that time, she decided Cobra was her best solution and found herself spending $1,600/month for insurance; with an additional $200/month for catheterizing supplies. In the end, she realized she was paying the equivalent of a mortgage payment on insurance needs. When Cobra was up, she HAD to find a better provider. Determined to no longer let insurance determine her life decisions and dictate her future, Lindsey started researching other options and came across Medi-Share.
Medi-Share is a Christian Ministry which provides health care needs for individuals and families. When Lindsey first found Medi-Share, she had A LOT of questions that needed to be answered. She wanted to know if they accepted individuals with pre-existing conditions, what the cost was, and ultimately how Medi-Share worked.
What is Medi-Share?
How does Medi-Share work?
Does Medi-Share accept individuals with pre-existing conditions?
YES! Medi-Share accepts individuals with pre-existing conditions and also has options for Seniors.
What about pregnancy?
Is Telehealth, Vision, and Dental included?
Telehealth has been a HUGE blessing during this season of life. Lindsey & Bret have been able to use it over 6 times for various needs over the past few months. Due to COVID-19, many offices are limiting in-person visits.
What’s the other criteria for qualification?
After learning about Medi-Share, Lindsey dove into the application process. For a family of 4, the Ferrell family is currently paying $600/month with an additional $120 for Lindsey’s tubes. That’s an additional $1,080 they can use towards other essentials every month.
This entire experience has reminded Lindsey that she doesn’t have to live like the rest of the world. She was basing life-altering decisions on what was common, instead of looking outside the box for other options. She leans on the Lord for every aspect of her life, insurance needs were no different. Lindsey likes to think of medical insurance in the same way we think of other insurances; it’s there for emergencies. Although she might not “use” what she’s paying into their plan each month, she sees their contribution pay for other families and their medical needs. They’re able to see exactly where their money is going, and can add these individuals to their prayers.
Lindsey and Bret have been using Medi-Share since 2018. Her most recent surgery, to remove a golf-ball sized bladder stone, she expected to pay out-of-pocket. But she didn’t have to, because Medi-Share shared her cost. Lindsey loves Medi-Share because she seems exactly where her money is going every month. They have access to a platform which outlines what needs are being met, and what individuals need prayers. This system reminds her of the early church, where help and prayers were abundant. Medi-Share has been such a blessing for their family, and we hope that by sharing Lindsey’s story it might help others find a better insurance option for their family!
